About Peach
Peach Friedman works privately as a Personal Fitness Trainer, training men and women in their homes, or at public parks and tracks. She also works as the Education & Outreach Coordinator for Summit Eating Disorders and Outreach Program in Sacramento, and is a spokesperson for NEDA, the National Eating Disorders Association .
Peach's book, Diary of an Exercise Addict, a memoir account of her struggle with and recovery from exercise bulimia and anorexia nervosa, is due for publication in November from The Globe Pequot Press. She has recently appeared in People magazine, as well as on abc's The View and 20/20, along with San Francisco abc7's new talk show, The View from the Bay, and a special on E! True Hollywood Story. She has been interviewed for stories in the Palo Alto Weekly, The Daily Press in Hampton, VA, and the London based magazine, Woman.
Peach Friedman has been working in the fitness industry since 2001, and Personal Training since 2002. She has worked in both Virginia and California, teaching group classes and individuals or duets in private homes. Her interest in Health and Wellness Fitness for Women grew out of an eating disorder and exercise compulsion. In recovery, she became passionate about spreading the message that bodies can be fit in many shapes and sizes! Exercise need not be about punishment or about trying to become a different body; rather, it can be a gift to ourselves: a way to feel energized and confident in the body we naturally have.
Areas of Specialty
While Peach has experience working with both men and women, she specializes in Women's Health and Wellness Fitness. This means helping clients achieve a level of fitness that is long-term sustainable in a way that brings ease and energy to their lives.
Peach also specializes in working with those recovering from eating disorders, helping them gain a realistic perspective on their bodies, and allowing them to learn how to listen and respond to their specific needs. If weight management is an objective, Peach will gear sessions toward promoting healthy, balanced ways of achieving goals without judgment or deprivation. She is adept at working with injury and physical limitations, and educates clients on injury prevention.
Experience and Certifications
Peach has experience working with girls and women from adolescence through post-menopause, from the underweight to the overweight, and everything in between.
For two years before moving to California, Peach assisted in the management and direction of her family's Yoga and Nia studio on the east coast. There she worked as Personal Trainer, group and private Nia Instructor, and as a resource for new students in finding classes that fit their needs and goals. She has co-led Nia workshops specifically for those recovering from eating disorders, and spoken publicly to groups large and small about her own recovery. Peach has also taught seminars and workshops geared toward spreading awareness on the dangers and warning signs of eating disorders.
