December 2007!

The last month of the year! What a whirlwind! I don't know about you guys, but I keep thinking to myself, "Once I get over that hump, I'll have a chance to relax..."

Nope! Oh well. I'm blessed to have a fully, happy life. Better busy than bored! But still--relaxation is important, and I'm learning right now how to say no. Between my job at Summit, my clients, and my book deal (did I mention!? Globe Pequot Press bought my memoir...due out now in early '09, STAY TUNED!), I'm busier than ever. And did I mention planning my wedding? Oh, and it's the holidays! Life. Is. Full.

My new plan: choose selectively. I want to do all of these things: plan my wedding, stay engaged in my work (all 3 or 4 of my jobs!), and make time for friends and family over the holidays, but that doesn't mean I have to kill myself in the process. I'm delegating wedding planning (Mom: handle the florist!) and not taking on every new client just because. If I choose the clients who are best suited to my work, and who live near my home and other jobs, then I am better able to help them and feel good about my work. Finding time to revise my memoir means keeping weekends to myself, which means sometimes saying "No" to friends and family, but they understand how important this project is to me, and I know that I won't always be in the midst of revisions.

So that's where I am this December...about to head back east for a whirlwind holiday of family, friends, and wedding planning appointments. But I've also scheduled out time for massages, yoga classes, and sleeping in...because where would my mind be without my body!?

Stay sane, people, and stay in touch. Happy Holidays!
