I'll be giving a talk at the 2007 National Eating Disorders Association conference in San Diego this fall.

Happy Indendence Day!

I am thinking today about recovery as independence; independence from my eating disorder; freedom from having to make decisions based on food and weight; freedom from caring what others think about my body; the courage and independence required to set myself free from disordered eating.

For anyone out there who is still struggling with their own eating disorder, I encourage you to dream up the freedom and independence you will feel when you let it be a thing of the past!

I am grateful today for my strong recovery, and wish all that strength to each of you.
